BASEPA and RUWASA to benefit from UNOPS $2.5 Million Dollar Grant Project
Bauchi State was recently selected through WaterAid International to be among the beneficiaries of the United Nations Office of Project Support (UNOPS) $2.5 Million Dollar Sanitation and Hygiene Fund grant titled: "Accelerating Access to Safely Managed Sanitation to Population in Secondary Towns and Cholera Hotspots in Nigeria".
The project will facilitate the state in the delivery of results through market based solutions that increase access to safe sanitation and hygiene for vulnerable populations and contribute to the reduction of Cholera and other WASH related diseases that will ultimately lead to attainment of safely managed sanitation goals.
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, while launching the project today in Abuja, expresses the federal government's commitment and readiness to deliver the project. He calls on all stakeholders to work closely in delivering the project.
A delegation from Bauchi state comprising of the Honourable Commissioner's of Housing and Environment, Water Resources and Health alongside Director General BASEPA Dr Mahmud Bose, together with GM RUWASA and Local Government Chairmen of Bauchi, Misau, Jamaare and Tarawa Balewa are among the critical stakeholders in the WASH sector that participated in the Project Launch in Abuja.
